Other clarifying information: We require 72 semester hour credits (105 quarter hour credits) of college be completed prior to matriculation. All prerequisite coursework must be completed with a grade of “C–“ or better. Applicants should have cumulative, science, and math grade-point averages of 3.25 or higher and a minimum composite PCAT score in the 50th percentile to receive highest consideration for admission. Applicants must successfully complete ALL course prerequisites by the end of the Spring 2011 term.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

NEOUCOP features a unique interdisciplinary curriculum in which a significant proportion of learning is accomplished simultaneously with medical students. The curriculum prepares graduates in a team approach to health and wellness for practice in a variety of community and inpatient settings. Beginning from the onset, experiential curriculum components are taught throughout the College’s clinical facilities, which include formal teaching hospitals, community hospitals and health care systems, ambulatory care clinics, private and corporate pharmacies and county Boards of Health. In addition to the pre-professional courses, applicants should meet the following minimum requirements for admission consideration: overall grade-point average of 3.25, grade-point average of 3.25 in all science and math courses, a minimum composite PCAT score in the 50th percentile, and no grade lower than “C–“ in any required course. The Admissions Committee has the authority to make all admission decisions, including exceptions to the criteria based on a holistic review of an applicant.

Successful applicants should also demonstrate interest in the profession through extracurricular activities; non-cognitive factors such as maturity; leadership, community service and volunteer experiences; work experiences, especially with patients in a pharmacy or health-related setting; and professional shadowing experiences.

The pharmacy program has established preferential admission agreements with four partner universities in northeast Ohio: The University of Akron, Kent State University, Youngstown State University, and Cleveland State University. Students who complete their pre-professional studies at any of these universities will be eligible to apply for one of that institution’s designated seats in the professional program. NEOUCOP will also accept students from other institutions. NEOUCOP typically admits 15 students from each of the partner institutions, and 15 students from other institutions.
