Other clarifying information: Science courses must be designed for science majors or pre-professional students. Science courses recommended to be taken within the last 7 years. Must receive a grade of “C” or better on each prerequisite and complete all courses before matriculation in August. AP credit (must show proof of a 4 or 5 on the exam) is acceptable for non-science courses. For the Anatomy and Physiology prerequisites, we prefer - HUMAN Anatomy and HUMAN Physiology - a year long series - courses to be taken at the same institution; combined courses accepted.

Selected applicants will be invited for interviews. Interviews take place on Saturday and they are all day events (8am–4pm). Students interview with one School of Pharmacy representative (faculty, staff or student) and one local pharmacist. An impromptu writing sample is required. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Pacific University was founded in 1849 and is the second oldest university west of the Mississippi.

The program is housed at the Health Professions Campus in Hillsboro, Oregon, located in the western suburbs of Portland in the heart of Washington County. The School of Pharmacy occupies the entire 4th floor which includes two dedicated classrooms with seating for 100 students each, a pharmaceutics laboratory, and fourteen dedicated and state-of-the-art equipped group-study/break-out rooms. As the program is located adjacent to Portland's extensive light rail system, students typically live throughout the Portland metropolitan area.

The mission of the School of Pharmacy is to provide a learner-centered environment that promotes excellence in professional pharmacy education, scholarship and service and prepares students to provide patient-centered medication therapy management to a diverse population with an integrated faculty through teamwork, professionalism, and critical thinking.

The School of Pharmacy offers a 3-year professional curriculum leading to the Doctor of Pharmacy degree. The curriculum is composed of two didactic years followed by one clinical year. During the first two academic years, students spend one day every other week in a patient care/pharmacy setting gaining experience that supports the classroom material. The curriculum is based on a modified-block design that allows the sequential delivery of courses rather than the more traditional method of teaching multiple courses concurrently.

The curriculum places an emphasis on integration of knowledge, critical thinking, and utilization of evidence based principles. Faculty incorporate various forms of active learning into each block. In addition, all students are assigned to teams at the beginning of each didactic year to support the strong team emphasis supported within the curriculum.
